Hat Care
General Hat Care
Store your hat in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent fading and distortion.
Keep your hat on a flat surface or a proper hat stand to maintain its shape.
Avoid excessive moisture—while felt hats can handle light mist, heavy rain can cause shrinkage or warping. If wet, allow your hat to air-dry naturally.
Handle your hat by the brim rather than the crown to maintain its structure.
If your hat loses its shape over time, we will always reshape hats purchased at Lucky Cowboy—reach out to us, and we’ll restore it for you.
Cleaning Your Hat
Dust & Light Debris
Use a soft-bristled brush (horsehair or hat brush) to gently sweep away dust in a circular motion.
A lint roller can remove lint and pet hair without damaging the fibers.
Sweat & Oil Stains
Use a clean white cloth with a small amount of mild soap and water to dab stains. Avoid oversaturating the felt.
For tougher stains, a dry sponge or hat cleaning sponge can help lift oils without leaving residue.
Shaping & Reshaping
Light wrinkles or misshaping can be fixed with steam. Hold your hat over a tea kettle or steamer (not too close) and gently reshape it with your hands. Allow it to dry fully before wearing.
If your hat loses its shape, we will always reshape hats purchased at Lucky Cowboy—just reach out, and we'll help restore it to its best form.
Storing Your Hat
Use a hat box or dust bag for long-term storage to prevent dust buildup.
If stacking, place tissue paper inside the crown to maintain shape.
Additional Tips
Avoid leaving your hat in a hot car—heat can shrink and warp felt.
